The Pathfinder
Method 1: Add 2 to your pants size
- Take your usual jeans/pants size (the waist number).
- Add 2 to get your belt size.
- Example: If you wear 34 pants, order a 36 belt.
- If you’re between sizes or wear your belt on the tighter/looser side, size up.
Method 2: Measure your waist
- Grab a flexible tape measure (or a string + ruler).
- Measure around your waist where you actually wear the belt (high waist or hips), over your pants, not your bare body.
- Pull it snug but not tight and note the measurement in inches.
- Order the belt size that matches that number.
- Example: If you measure 37", choose a 38 belt (or the closest size your belt comes in).
Method 3: Measure your current belt
- Lay your belt flat on a table.
- Measure from where the buckle folds over the leather (right at the bend/crease where the leather wraps around the buckle—not the tip of the buckle) to the hole you use most often.
- That measurement in inches is your belt size (it should land you near the middle holes on a new belt).
If the belt is curved (from wear):
- Don’t force it perfectly straight. Instead, follow the belt’s natural curve with a flexible tape measure (or use a string along the curve, then measure the string).
- Still measure from the fold point to your most-used hole—just make sure you’re measuring along the belt, not “as the crow flies” across the curve.
